Banner and shop
It was dark and wet this morning. The banner announcing a fashion-show is all wrinkled and unreadable; probably from the strong wind.
This is how it looked on this Thursday-morning in Winschoten.

Tuinland again
Replacing the plants we bought a week-and-a-half ago and which were almost dead already. We used the refund money to buy new ones.
Facade
It looks like this building, which is situated in the Mr. Jan Fr. Vietorstraat with it's broad side along a road, might have been a school.

Icecream-cone
While enjoying two scoops, one pear, one chocolate, I took a picture of the giant icecream-cone. This proved to be a difficult proces because the wind was very strong and blew my cup and napkin away.

Mondaymorning blurred cleaning
Always on mondaymornings when I go to work they are cleaning the streets.
Ham-in-a-box
This looks very Aldi-ish, eventhough the Aldi is at the other side of the parking lot.
It is a wet carton box with the Dutch words Shoulderham.
Oink oink.

Mensingetree
Green trees, blue sky, white stripes and dead tree, all in one picture from a walk in the Mensingebos.
Mensingetrack through the park
Just a few yards up this track the herd of ur-oxen were grazing. They looked menacing, we thought. And because the warningsigns say that you should always keep 25 meters distance, we took a detour.

Evening at eight thirty
It is going fast now. The end of the day comes three minutes sooner every day.
It must be art
It must be art and it probably needs an explanation the size of a phonebook. And anyway, it is very ugly. I say: "Semtex helps".
Groningen market
While eating french fries from the Waterloo brothers, we watched the new, fresh students on introduction week in Groningen.

Lotte and Iris
Up in the watchpost, grafitti shows the local youth comes here to smoke pot and make out. At least, I hope for them they do not only smoke pot.
Fata morgana
In the recreational area around Lauwersoog, which is also shooting practice ground, there stands a lone tree in a huge field.

Wubbo sails past
As we were waiting for the Pleiadenbridge, the Ecolution ship of Dutch astronaut Wubbo Ockels sailed past. This happened just as I was telling my wife about this ship.
Synchronicity.
The boat is about to pass the warf that took part in it's build: No Limit Ships in Groningen, in cooperation with Marvis Jachtbouw also in Groningen.
Coincidence.

Wind
Building a new building at the site of the original studentflat at the end of what was once a throughway and where once my aunt lived and where my cousin was born. I took the picture from the hotel next to the Martiniplaza where I had a meeting with my colleague.
Monkey-rock
Monkey rock is the nickname of the HQ of the Gasunie. Actually, the building symbolizes a gasflame. It sits at the end of a park, directly at the intersection of the ringroad and the A7 highway, from Amsterdam to the north of Germany.

Waiting before the interview. T minus 7. Almost time to go in after 10 minutes waiting in the car.

Johnny Moodman
A car is parked in the Johan Modastraat, along the city-hall, towards the Langestraat.

Winter is such a long time ago.
It was this last winter, here at this spot, a suitable place for parking your car. Or, so it seemed.
All the cars that are parked here now will not notice it. But there is a slight slope where the cars are parked. Down towards the hedge. And there was lots of snow. And the snow was frozen.
At the end of the day I came back to my car and tried to drive away. My wheels slipped and I couldn't get up the slight slope.
There was nobody around who could help me. So I walked back to the center and found a Halfords-shop. I bought a snow-shovel and walked back. Then I started clearing away the snow and managed to drive up to the street-level.
From there on it was piece of piss to drive back home.

Cleaning the public loo
Every Monday morning the public loo is cleaned. The man in orange hoses the construction with a soapy-smelling solution.

Harbour in Leermens
This is the harbour in Leerms, or Leermens as I could say. The day felt busy, people angling, or picknicking, cars passing by, birds fighting... The countryside should be much more quiet.

Driving home
Gas station at Meedenertol approaching, I'm on the highway. This is the quietest part of the journey home. The closer I come to the city the busier the traffic gets.
Bike parked against wall
This blue and silver bike is parked before a wall next to the drainpipe of a sportsshop. Just so you know. I recognize the Peugeot lion and the Adidas swash.

Closer
The campus is closing the free space in. I am standing here on the outer edge of the Zerniketerrein with my back towards the KVI. When I was a student, only one third max of the terrain was occupied. Now only the last quarter maybe remains without buildings.
Where can the deer go when the buildings come any closer?p>
Rain is coming
Just as I'm about to go for a lunchbreak walk, the sky gets darker and darker. I go anyway.
In the end I have to wait under the entrance of the bank, next to the most beautiful girl of Winschoten, the absolute most stunningly beautiful girl in all of Oldambt, for the rain to end. After a while it stops and I can go back to work.

Street with shoe. This way.
My shoe. My right shoe as I walk on the street in Winschoten during lunchbreak.

Not a roman church in France
This is the church in Leermens, next to Eenum and Oosterwijtwerd. Again, we are looking for a house around these parts.
Stone
Grey, upright gravestone in the Donatus church of Leermens. In memory of Willem Clant to der Borch, who died in 1541.
